In a resounding affirmation of its excellence, Singapore’s Changi Airport has once again secured the prestigious title of World’s Best Airport for the 12th consecutive year in 2023.
This remarkable achievement was announced at the esteemed World Airport Awards, held during the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam on March 15, 2023. Adding to its illustrious accolades, Changi Airport also claimed top honours for Best Airport Dining and Leisure Amenities, further solidifying its status as a global leader in airport hospitality and services.
Mr. Lee Seow Hiang, the Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group, expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering dedication and resilience exhibited by the airport community amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years. He credited this remarkable feat to the collective efforts of the airport staff who steadfastly served passengers and ensured that Singapore remained seamlessly connected to the world throughout turbulent times. Mr. Lee also extended heartfelt appreciation to the passengers for their continued trust and confidence in Changi Airport, emphasising that their unwavering support serves as a driving force for the pursuit of service excellence.
Looking towards the future, Changi Airport is poised to further elevate the travel experience with the development of Terminal 5 (T5), a monumental project nestled within the expansive Changi East development. With an impressive capacity to handle approximately 50 million passenger movements annually, T5 is slated to commence operations around the mid-2030s. This state-of-the-art terminal is meticulously designed with a focus on flexibility, ensuring adaptability to evolving traffic patterns and growth demands.
Incorporating valuable insights gleaned from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, T5 is conceptualised to prioritise passenger well-being and safety. Advanced measures, such as the deployment of contactless systems at passenger touchpoints and enhanced ventilation systems, underscore Changi Airport’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and hygienic environment for travellers.
